Dwight E. Ricketts

Dwight E. "Gene" Ricketts, 88, of Columbus, passed away on January 12, 2016. He was born on February 3, 1927 in Shawnee, OH to the late Daniel and Hazel (Starner) Ricketts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Robert, Pearl David, William, Virginia, Margaret, Richard and Raymond. Gene was a graduate of Shawnee High School and proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He worked as a color matcher for Columbus Coated Fabrics. Gene was a member of the American Legion and the Escort Carrier Soldier and Sailor Association. He was also an avid bowler. Gene will be greatly missed by his children Virginia (Brian Myers) Ricketts, Dwight (April) Ricketts and David Ricketts; his grandchildren David, Nicole and Melissa; and his beloved cocker spaniel April. The family will receive friends from 4-8pm Friday, January 15 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street. His funeral will be at the funeral home Saturday, January 16 at 11am with Frank Millington officiating. Entombment will follow at Kingwood Memorial Park.
