

Edward Johnson, 72, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021 at St. Ann's Hospital. He was born January 3, 1949 in Jack's Creek, Kentucky and devoted his life to being a dedicated and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Ed was known for his passion for fishing. Up until the last few months of his life, he could be found on or at the lake, even if just to watch a weigh in or look at the water. Everywhere he went, he could run into someone he knew or make a new friend. He didn't know a stranger and held valuable relationships with all who knew him.
He was a member of the New Life United Baptist Church and always let his love for the Lord shine. He told everyone about the Lord.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Ida Johnson; and brothers, Harrison, Ellis, and Sam.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis May Johnson; children Sherry (Jack) Powers, James (Carla) Johnson; Jim Ashby and Becky (Thomas) McElhaney; grandchildren Ashley, Justin, Emma, Meagan, Steven; great-grandchild, Wyatt; sisters, Lealy Hall and Juanita Caudill; and numerous friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm on Tuesday, October 5 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 am, also at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg. A livestream of the service will be available for those unable to attend and masks will be required in the building.
