Edward Raymond Stahl, 91, of Columbus made the glorious passing to his New Life on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Born in Cincinnati on December 29, 1928 to the late Edward and Hazel Stahl. He graduated from Western Hills High School in 1946 and immediately joined the Navy. He served during peace time and was a Seaman First Class on the USS Wisconsin from 1946-1948. He traveled the world in 18 months and always enjoyed sharing his story of crossing the equator for the first time. In 1949, he married Marilyn Veronica Herschel and began their life in Cincinnati. In 1954 they moved to Columbus where he set up his jewelry manufacturing business and continued to work until he was 70 years old. There are many people in the community who have the honor of owning a piece of customized handmade jewelry by Ed. He was an avid golfer that took many golf vacations with his buddies, and played in leagues and tournaments. Twice he golfed a score that matched his age at 72 and 74 during tournament and league play. He belonged to the Tri-County Sportsman Club where he enjoyed Skeet shooting. Ed enjoyed playing poker and cards and was on several bowling leagues. Marilyn and Ed liked to travel with their friends and with the Senior Center. His biggest source of pride were his children. There was never a more devoted father and caregiver. When Marilyn got sick, he was constantly by her side because he knew no one would provide as much care as he could. Ed and Marilyn made the Parkview Presbyterian Church their church home for the last several years. Ed is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn (2011), daughter Donna M Carson (2016), son Ed Stahl Jr (2017). He is survived by his children, Susan (Steve) Hines, Janis (Charles) Stahl-Popovich, Anita (Craig) Doupnik; son-in-law, Jack Carson; his grand-children, Hughes and Tyson Stahl; Julie and Natalie Carson; Justin and Jenna Hines; Abby, Barry and Griffin Doupnik; and great-grandson, Emerson Hines. Ed will be missed by his family and the countless friends he encountered through his life. Through them, the memory of a life lived with grace and dignity will live on. There will be a private internment for his children only, due to COVID-19, at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Wednesday April 8. At a later date, the family will have a memorial service where we hope to gather with many of his friends to celebrate his extraordinary life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Mid-Ohio Food Bank at https://www.midohiofoodbank.org/ or to any COVID-19 relief efforts.
