Known affectionately by friends and family as “Connie”, she was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Edwyn V. Condron and Elizabeth Allison Condron.
Connie dearly loved the summers she spent at Fenwick Island, DE with her parents and her sister, Betty Ann. Connie grew up and graduated from high school in Springdale, PA in 1945. She decided to study Elementary Education and graduated from Muskingum College in Ohio. She later received her Library Certification from Penn State.
She taught in four different states and was a librarian in Honduras, Central America. Her first teaching job was in Chagrin Falls, OH. She also taught in Grove City, PA and in Oswego, NY. She was a school librarian in Morgantown, WV. After her retirement, she worked as a librarian for the American School in Tegucigalpa, Honduras for two years.
While teaching in the third grade at Chagrin Falls, OH, Connie met Paul W. DeVore who at the time was the Industrial Arts teacher at the high school. They were married on April 7, 1952, in Houston, PA by her father, the Rev. Edwyn V. Condron.
Sadly, Connie and Paul experienced the deaths of three children, Baby Harry DeVore, Michelle Ann DeVore in 2003 and Phillip Charles DeVore in 2005.
Connie was actively involved with the Girl Scouts, League of Women Voters and became a member of the Morgantown Quaker Society. She supported graduate students in the Technology Education program by hosting dinners, holiday celebrations and even an international phone wedding. Connie was the Chair of the Morgantown Library Board, traveled widely with Paul and attended annual Dunn Family reunions in Marietta, OH.
In 2004 Connie and Paul moved to Dublin, OH where they resided at Friendship Village. In 2022 Connie and Paul celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Connie was pre-deceased by her husband Paul W. DeVore, brother-in-law Arthur DeVore, her sister Elizabeth Condron McFerran, brother-in-law Warren A. McFerran, her parents and children.
Connie is warmly remembered by her nephew, Stewart Allison McFerran, nieces Martha McFerran (Babu Dahya) and Sarah McFerran-Cooley (Bob Cooley) along with great niece Eva Elizabeth McFerran (Gabriel Griffith), cousin William Anthony DeVore (Emmy DeVore) and a host of Dunn cousins and relatives.
A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date for the interment of Connie’s ashes at the New Marshfield Cemetery near Athens, Ohio.
