Elizabeth Jane Priest

A funeral service for Elizabeth J. Priest, 89, of Newark, will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Hughes officiating. Graveside services will be held at Wilson Cemetery on Thursday at 10:00 AM with military honors being observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Elizabeth was born in Toboso, Ohio on August 31, 1924 to the late Samuel Billman and Gertrude (Zigan) Billman-Rine. She passed away at Flint Ridge Nursing Home on August 31, 2013.

Elizabeth proudly served county in the United States Navy during WWII. Prior to retirement, she worked at Ranco Inc. for over 20 years. She enjoyed fishing and especially loved spending time with her two daughters.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Clarence E. Priest, whom she married on August 31, 1946; two daughters, Rebecca (Ed) Timmons of Marion and Jane Arnett of Newark; step-brother, William Rine; uncle, Carl Zigan; two nephews, Anthony and Eric Timmons; and many other family members.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Samuel Billman Jr.; step-father, Perry Rine; and step-sister, Gladys Banks.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Elizabeth to Generation Hospice, 65 McMillen Dr., Newark. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the funeral home, 179 Granville St., Newark on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
