Died March 5, 2026, in Dublin, OH, at the age of 96
Son of John Walden and Nita (Jennings) Walden.
Emmett served in the U.S. Air Force from March 3, 1951, to April 2, 1955, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received the National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal, and was honorably discharged.
He worked for Ohio Bell/AT&T before retiring, and then for The Ohio State University, retiring again, all as a telephone installer. He worked long and hard to provide a good life for his family. He was a longstanding member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, OH.
Emmett will be remembered as a beloved husband, dedicated father, grandfather, and faithful servant of God. He was always willing and able to help family, friends, and his church community, volunteering his services whenever needed.
He is survived by the love of his life, Dolores (Morock) Walden, to whom he was married for over 70 years. He is also survived by his five children, Teresa (Todd) Thimmes, Sandy (Dave) Priwer, Brenda (Bill) Gibson, Mike (Julia) Walden, and Mark (Kimberly) Walden; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, LaVerne Walden and many cousins, nieces, and nephews in Texas.
The family wishes to thank the staff and good people of Dublin Retirement Village, the therapists with Summit Health, the home healthcare aides at DRV, Zussman in-home Hospice care, the Veterans Administration (AmadaCare), and Dublin Methodist Hospital Hospice care for making his final weeks as comfortable as possible.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a favorite charity of Emmett and Dolores.
Emmett was deeply loved by all who knew him. May he rest in peace with the Risen Lord.
Visitation will be held at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services by Schoedinger North, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, OH 43229, US, on March 13, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Committal will take place at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Saint Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH 43137, US, on March 13, 2026.
