

Ernest “Shorty” Taylor, 90, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2016. He was born on April 26, 1926, the son of Herman Ernest Taylor and Cora Mae Turner. He was a devoted employee of Circleville Oil for 30+ years, with a total of 75 years in the oil industry. He was a jockey in his youth, racing in Michigan under the name Bobby Taylor. He had a love for horses which stayed with him for the rest of his life. He loved his country, as he served honorably in the United States National Guard. Ernest was an avid fan of cheering the Buckeyes on in football with his loving wife Edna. He was a person who never met a stranger, as he loved people and people loved him. He was a thoughtful man, kind and loving not only to family, but to everyone he met. Ernest is preceded in death by his parents, his 7 siblings, and his son-in-law Rodger Derr, Sr. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edna (Davis) Taylor. Left to mourn the passing of Ernest is his loving daughter Sandra Derr. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Talisa Louise Cummings and Rodger Clifford Derr, Jr; as well as his great grandchildren SRA Daniel Cummings, Dusten Cummings, Brittany Cummings and Gage Derr. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016 from 11am to 2pm with the funeral service to follow at 2pm. Services will be held at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, located at 151 East Main St., Circleville, OH with Chaplain Lloyd Markley officiating. Burial will be conducted at Forest Cemetery.
