

Eugenia Marie Pike, 102, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010. Marie was born February 24, 1908, in Sardinia, Ohio to Florence and Eugene Carter. She graduated from Sardinia High School where she played clarinet in the band. Marie attended the American Institute of Banking and worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in Cincinnati. In 1932 she married Charles Pike, and they traveled and lived in several cities across the United States from California to Washington D.C. They owned P&B Coal Company in New Lexington during WW II. After moving to Columbus, they started C.W. Pike and Son Inc. Marie was a 62 year resident of Valleyview and a longtime member of Glenwood United Methodist Church. She was an 82 year member of Eastern Star. She always said she had the most wonderful life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and daughter, Barbara Cress. She is survived by her son, Robert (Nita) Pike; daughter, Karen (Ron) Rice; son-in-law, LaVerne Cress; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 3 with a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a funeral service at 1 p.m. both at Glenwood United Methodist Church, 2833 Valleyview Dr. Pastor Sharon Beattie officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s name to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Rd., Second Floor, Princeton, NJ 08540.
