Evelyn Beard

Evelyn Mae (Kimbler) Beard, age 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2020, at home with her family by her side. She was born September 6, 1945, in Chillicothe, Ohio, a daughter to Rev. Elijah Monroe "Preach" and Garnet Mae (Cash) Kimbler.

Evelyn was a 1963 graduate of Southeastern High School. After graduating, she was a member of a singing group, the Sacred Echoes, for several years. She married her husband, Wayne, on February 1, 1966. Evelyn was a loving pastor's wife for more than 40 years. Over the years, at each of the churches where she and Wayne served, she enjoyed playing the organ and piano for every service. She currently was a member of West Broad Church of the Nazarene where she had a special heart for missions and serving people. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother "Granny" who enjoyed spending time with her family above everything else. She enjoyed taking care of others, especially her children, grandchildren and church family. Evelyn was a selfless, compassionate, special woman of God.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Elijah Monroe Kimbler; mother, Garnet Kimbler; step-mother, Virginia Kimbler; brothers, Rev. John Kimbler, Roy Kimbler, Glenn Kimbler, Paul Kimbler, and infant brother, Franklin Kimbler; and sister, Marilyn Robertson.

Surviving are her husband, Pastor Wayne Beard; daughters, Darla (Jonas) Akers, Christy (David) Phillips, and Tricia (David) Smith; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and many other family members whom she loved.

Family will receive guests from 5pm - 8pm on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at Heart and Hope Funeral Home by Schoedinger, 3030 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204. Graveside service will be Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 12:30pm at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 West Broad Street, Galloway, Ohio 43119. To find the graveside, please meet at the front office at Sunset Cemetery by noon and a procession will be led to the graveside.
