

Evelyn L. Mauck, age 87, of Worthington, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014. Born January 22, 1927 in Delaware, Ohio to the late Allan and Dorothy Long, Evelyn was a graduate of Delaware Hayes H.S. and a 1948 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University. While at OWU, she met Robert S. Mauck whom she married in 1949 in Switzerland where Evelyn had been a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Zurich. A gifted artist and an elegant skier/tennis player, Evelyn was not to be trifled with at the bridge table. She is the Evelyn of Bob and Evelyn’s Roadhouse exhibit at the Columbus Zoo. Sources estimate that she and Bob visited 99 of the top 100 bucket list destinations over their 65 years together. She was an active supporter of the Childhood League, the Columbus Museum of Art and the Columbus Zoo. Above all, Evelyn was a devoted wife and a loving and engaged force in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her intelligence, love, and wit will be a part of them forever. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Albert C. Long and William A. Long. She will be missed by her loving husband of 65 years, Robert S. Mauck; children, Bob (Susie) Mauck, Andy (Dorothy) Mauck and Cici (Larry) Groupé; six grandchildren; one great grandson and brother, Thomas R. (Helen) Long. Family will receive friends Friday, November 7, 2014 from 3-6 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., Worthington (Just south of I-270), where the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Delaware.
