

Finis C. Whitt, born on May 28, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away July 23, 2025 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. He was the beloved son of the late Nathaniel T. Whitt, Jr. and Frances C. Perryman-Whitt.
Finis earned a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and worked as a mechanical engineer. Throughout his career, he made lasting contributions at companies including Komatsu, Rockwell, and Rohm and Haans.
Finis had a deep passion for learning and leadership. He was a teacher, entrepreneur, and a lifelong member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. A man of many interests, Finis enjoyed bowling, playing chess, and woodworking.
Finis fondly remembered Shirley’s as his favorite spot whenever he returned to town, where he was sure to enjoy a delicious meal. "She was the bomb cook," he’d say.
He enjoyed a lifelong friendship with Nate from his college days through the end.
He is survived by his daughter, Akai Whitt; son, Finis Whitt II; granddaughter, Havillan sisters, Ethel Pinkard and Yatunda Primm, four nieces, six nephews, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Finis was preceded in death by his twin brother, Benny D Whitt; brother Rev. William C Whitt, and sister, Eula C Whitt.
