

Floyd E. (“Bob”) Taylor Jr., age 90, of Columbus, Ohio, died February 6th, 2012. He was born November 9th, 1921 to the late Floyd E. Taylor Sr., and the late Pearl Helen Boeshans. Floyd is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeanne, son, Thomas (Sandi) of Indianapolis, and daughters, Debra (John) Garmhausen of Sidney and Susan (David) Kessler of Atlanta, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Floyd was raised in Columbus and graduated from South High School in 1939. He attended The Ohio State University and was a member of ROTC. In 1941, due to World War II, he was sent to basic training at Fort Bragg, NC. Floyd returned to Ohio State and resided in the stadium dormitories until attending Officer’s Candidate School at Ft. Sill, OK. Upon completion of OCS, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery. Later he transferred to the Infantry and served in the China-Burma-India Theater. Following the war, he married his bride, Jeanne A. Huempfner, on March 1st, 1947. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting from Ohio State in August 1947. His work experience included Lazarus Department Store and North American Aviation. Floyd retired as the Manager of Accounting at Rockwell International in 1985. Floyd retained his commission in the U.S. Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Colonel. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1973. Floyd was a loyal son of The Ohio State University; his great joy was attending football games with his son. He also enjoyed spending winters in south Florida and viewing sunsets. Services will be held on Friday, February 10th at 11:00 A.M. at Schoedinger North Chapel, located at 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus. Entombment will follow in Kingwood Memorial Park.
