Forest Madison Thiel passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 in Dublin, Ohio at the age of 23, after a courageous battle with opioid use disorder. He was an ambassador to the initiation of a recovery high school, sharing his story to audiences and news stations in hopes of bringing awareness and reducing the stigma associated with substance use. His transparency and bravery were admirable and his desire to help others along the way never ceased.
Forest loved skateboarding, snowboarding, a good game of chess, yoga, the stock market, reading, rainstorms, music, and spending time with family and friends. What Forest loved most though, was a genuine conversation be it a friend or stranger.
Forest was a loving big brother to Marley and Mason and a devoted son.
While Forest left us way too soon, we will forever be grateful for the treasured times he gave us in his life. He will be remembered for his gentle soul, bright smile and kind heart.
Forest is survived by his mother, Heather Thiel; sister, Marley; brother, Mason; maternal grandparents, Jane and Carl Thiel; paternal grandfather, William Marino; Aunts, Jennifer (Cletus) Estes, Marybeth (Steve) Thiel, and Vanessa Marino; Cousins, Tully Estes, Finley and Maggie Smith; special friend, Eric Rhodes; his brother from another mother, Owen McCormick; and many loving and supportive family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of the following organizations very dear and near to Forest's heart, Heartland High School, a recovery-centered high school, https://www.heartlandhighschool.org/donate or the REID Foundation, a local non-profit committed to helping Ohio's addiction recovery community creatively express themselves through music and other fine art, https://reid.revv.co/reidfoundation.
Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER DUBLIN where a visitation will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 12-2pm followed by a service and time for sharing at 2pm.
