Frances Mae Benedict, 85, of Blacklick, Ohio passed away peacefully at home. Fran was born May 13, 1935 in Flandreau, South Dakota to the late Vivian and Verle Youel and was also preceded in death by her brother Jim Youel and his wife Nancy.
Fran is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Ronald Benedict; children Barb (Keith) Brown, Cindy (Chuck) Darling, Karen (Jeff) Chrobak, Tammy (Tom) Thompson and David (Robin Modeszto) Benedict; grandchildren Brandon (Cathy) Chrobak, Steven (Sarah) Chrobak, Austin Chrobak, Katie Benedict and Cole Benedict; sister MaryAnne (Ken) Sturtz; and also extended family and friends.
Everything that Fran did in life, she did with passion! She shared her life and home with her treasured Labrador retrievers. Her love for her dogs gave birth to her Greenbriar Labradors business in which she bred, showed, and trained champion Labrador retrievers for over 25 years. She loved gardening and created beautiful landscaping around her home that included the hundreds of varieties of hosta plants that she collected. Fran attended Penn State University but became an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. Holidays brought opportunities for three of Fran's passions: family gatherings, cooking and decorating.
Family will welcome friends 11am-1pm Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna. A service with limited seating will begin at 1pm followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Masks are required for all services.
