Fred Vernon Kimes, 87, of Columbus, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015. He was born June 5, 1927 to Chase and Verla (Shafer) Kimes and was a 1945 graduate of West High School. In 1948 he was married to and leaves behind his wife Doris (Evans). Together they had two sons Steven, who preceded him in death in 2014, and Dan (Elissa) Kimes of Maryland who survives. Also surviving are grandchildren Laura (Adrian) Kimes and Kelly (Carlos) Kimes and brother David (Joann) Kimes.
In addition to his parents and son he was preceded in death by brothers Roy and Jon.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH, where the funeral service will be held at 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, The Rev.
