

Frederick Welton Ream, age 85, of Columbus, Ohio entered eternal peace March 21, 2026. He was born to Marcia E. and Charles F. Ream on January 30, 1941 in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from John R. Buchtel High School and The University of Akron with a B.S. in Business Administration. He was a proud member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, Beta Rho chapter. Fred excelled at golf and bowling and enjoyed poker games with his Akron friends.
Fred assumed leadership positions in his fraternity, work experience, church life, and residence at Ohio Living Retirement. He was a military veteran having served at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and with the II Field Force Artillery in Vietnam. He retired with 40 years in retail management through The M’Oneil Co., F&R Lazarus Co., and Macy’s, primarily in the furniture area.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters; Sarah L. Mellott and Linda E. Sandy. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rebecca S. Ream and five nieces.
Calling hours will be 5-8 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. The Celebration of Life led by Rev. Dr. David Cady will be Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Rose Hill Funeral Home and Burial Park, 3653 West Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44333. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM-12 PM, Funeral Service will be at 12 PM, Burial at 1 PM and Reception will follow until 2 PM. A Memorial Service with Reflection will be held Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 2 PM-3 PM at Riverside Church, 2701 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221.
Members of the family would like to thank physicians and staff of Riverside Methodist Hospital and Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice for their expertise and compassion while caring for Fred.
