

Gene L. Amacher, age 88, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 in Gahanna, Ohio. He was born August 31, 1929 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Although born in Indiana he was raised in Illinois by the late John and Nellie Amacher. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jane Amacher in 2011. Gene was a US Army Veteran. After serving three years in military service, he went to engineering school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He worked his entire career of 36 years as an Electrical Engineer for National Cash Register (NCR) in Dayton and in Cambridge, Ohio. Gene and Mary enjoyed being members of the boat club on Seneca Lake where Gene loved sailing his boat. They enjoyed traveling and had visited most all of the states including Alaska. For over 20 years they had lived in their winter home in Florida. His perfect day would include being surrounded by family and friends, playing bridge in person and online, working on his computer, playing solitaire, and watching the History Channel. Gene is survived by his daughter, Carol (Daryl) Clingman; granddaughter, Jennifer (Bob) Pittenger; grandson, Daniel Clingman; great-granddaughter, Taylor; sister, Betty Rains; and three nephews and families.
