

George H. Holly, age 81 of Columbus, Ohio, passed away June 18, 2013. He will be remembered by many for his infectious smile and great sense of humor. George was born in Hazelton, PA, son of the late George J. and Susan Holly. Also preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, John, Cyril, Vince, Raymond and Michael Holly and sister, Sister Mary Martin. George served in the United States Air Force from February 1950 until retirement in 1972. He served in Japan during the Korean War. He also served in Morocco, England and Germany. George was a life member of VFW, American Legion, NCOA and DAV. Following retirement from the USAF, George was employed by the Columbus Academy from 1978 to 1993. He will be greatly missed by his children, Donna (Jim) McGue and Martin (Tracy) Holly; 6 grandchildren, Brittany Hursey, Kyle McGue, Elizabeth (Kristopher Harper), Erika, Andrew and Taylor Holly; great granddaughters, Zoey and Sierra Harper; longtime love, Dorothy Dell and her children, Michael (Katherine), Amy Dell Reinhardt and Katy (Peter) Frickel, and her 7 grandchildren; sisters, Mary Yurasek, Teresa Gabriel, Joan Holly, Suzanne Willey and Kathleen Weiss; and former wife, Madge Withers. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 P.M. Monday, June 24, 2013 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., where family members will receive friends from 3 P.M. until time of service. Private family inurnment to take place at a later date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
