

Georgene Ford – Born in Mansfield Ohio on Aug 5, 1936, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018. Georgene is survived by her loving family, mother Margaret Ritchie, brother Charles Birmelin, children Sally Ford-Lyles (Kevin) and Michael Ford (Cheryl), daughter-in-law Annette Ford (Brian), Grandchildren Matt, Michael Jr., Kate, Devoney, Xander and Hunter. Preceded in death by her husband Chris Ford, son Brian Ford and father Paul Birmelin.
Georgene graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1954. She followed her high school sweetheart (Chris) to Bowling Green State University. After marrying Chris they moved to Huron Ohio and started a family. Georgene graduated from Ashland College where she pledged to Alpha Phi Sorority. Georgene was an elementary school teacher, creative room mom, Girl Scout Leader, member of Twig 77, and belonged to several garden clubs and craft guilds. She also enjoyed being a surrogate mom to hundreds of Chris’s wrestlers. After retiring from teaching she became the Story Time Associate in the children’s book department for Barnes and Noble on Polaris Parkway, where she read books and created preschool crafts with children for over 10 years.
Georgene loved spending time with family and friends and vacationing on Sanibel Island, in Huron on Lake Erie and on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound. She was a master at creating scrapbooks, and enjoyed scrapping with friends every Wednesday. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, collecting antiques and traveling.
Friends may call Thursday, July 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday morning July 27th from 9:00 – 10:00am at Schoedinger-Worthington Chapel, 6699 North High St.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 27th at 10 am. Internment of Georgene and her son Brian Ford will follow the service at Blendon Central Cemetery 6330 Hempstead Rd, Westerville, Ohio 43081.
