Georgiana Ward

Georgiana Howard Ward was born on September 10, 1928. She was the only child of George Howard and Vera Thompson Howard. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 60 years Richard Ward. She is survived by her children Daniel (Joyce) Ward, Douglas (Tamara) Ward and Harriet (David) Talmage, grandchildren Heather (Thomas) Bechtel, Kathryn (Jason) Fawcett, Melissa Ward, Jacob Ward, Joshua Ward, David (Diane) Talmage, Nicholas Talmage and great-grandchildren Megan Bechtel and Leah Bechtel. She graduated from Columbus South High School in 1946 and Capitol University in 1950 with a degree in Applied Performance Organ Music. She was organist at McKendree United Methodist Church for over 15 years. She served as President of the West Ohio Conference United Methodist Women and was elected in successive terms as Jurisdictional and General Conference representative delegate.

Georgiana was a spokesperson for women's rights and representation. She was a board member on the Commission of Status and Role of Women and served on the United Methodist Hymnal Revision committee. She was director for many years of the School of Christian Missions held yearly at Ohio Northern University. She served on the board at Otterbein Home where she resided the final 10 years of her life. Georgiana was a progressive leader in supporting the rights of all.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Rd., where family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until time-of-service Saturday. Private family burial will take place at Union Cemetery at a later date.
