

Geraldine “Gerry” E. Boyce, age 104, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016. She was born on October 13, 1912, in Hanover, Ohio to the late Dr. William L. and Nettie (Donivan) Evans. Gerry received a Master’s Degree in Education from Ohio Wesleyan University. She taught high school Spanish, French and English, along with private piano lessons throughout Central Ohio. She was also a long time substitute teacher at Grandview High School and French and Spanish tutor for many years. Gerry was a professor of French and the Dean of Women at Bluffton College. She was a member of The Ohio State University Women’s Club and the Lyric Unit of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Gerry was also a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending summers at Lakeside with her family. She was also an avid participant in garden, art and book clubs. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert M. Boyce, and her brother, Donivan Evans. She will be greatly missed by her children, Robert Evans Boyce and Martha Elizabeth Boyce; daughter-in-law, Laura Boyce; grandchildren, Benjamin, Ann, Sarah, Laura and Daniel Kington and Erin and Hannah Boyce; and 3 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends 5-7pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Boulevard, Columbus, Ohio 43212. Interment at Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, Ohio.
