Geraldine "Deanie" Gant

Geraldine “Deanie” Gant, age 93, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 18, 2013 at Columbus West Park Nursing and Rehab. She was born April 4, 1919 to the late James and Jennie (Ferris) Hendrix; also preceded in death by her husband, Gerald H. Gant; eight siblings and sons-in-law, Tom Newkirk and Al Keefer. Deanie spent her formative years in Omaha, Nebraska and then moved to Silver City, Iowa, where she was a member of the Silver City High School graduating class of 1936. She worked for Montgomery Ward and Sears Roebuck as a sales manager/buyer and was a member of Broad Street Christian Church. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon L. Newkirk and Marsha L. Keefer; grandsons, Gerald T. Newkirk and James E. (Coleen) Newkirk; granddaughter, Jennifer L. (John) Rabb; great-grandchildren, Daniel Newkirk, Zachary Newkirk, Kate (Colby) Randall, Preston Newkirk and Spencer Newkirk; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral service 1pm Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43204 where family will receive friends from 12-1pm; private family interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
