

Gertrude (Trudy) BeVier Karst, 86, went home to be with the Lord, peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Trudy was born on November 26, 1934, in Rankin, PA. Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Frieda Weiss DeLaney and Edward DeLaney; daughter, Deborah and brother, Ronald Edward DeLaney. Trudy is survived by children, Michele (Tom) Steitz and Vicky (Jim) Scanlon; grandchildren, Thomas (Sarah) Steitz, Matthew (Bekah) Steitz, Katie (Corey) Copper, Jim (Laura) Scanlon; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Lucas, Kylie, Caitlynn, Cameron, and Molly; sister-in-law, Linda DeLaney; friend, Shirley Kimmins; many nieces, nephews, and friends; beloved dogs, Kelly, Molly, Hunter, Tank, and Lily. Trudy worked at Rockwell International and the State of Ohio where she met many life-long friends. She was a beautiful, wonderful, and loving Mother who loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends to whom she brought and received so much joy. Trudy never met a dog she didn’t love. She was a member of the ASPCA and regularly donated to organizations that cared for animals. Friends may call Friday, April 30, 2021 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43232, where a celebration of life service will follow at 4:00 pm. Masks are required and attendance will be monitored to ensure social distancing requirements. Graveside service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, 8029 E. Main St. Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to OhioHealth Hospice (Kobacker House), Bella Care Hospice, or the ASPCA.
