Gladys Marie Hammond, 86, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Oak Leaf Village. She was born December 3, 1926 to the late, Benjamin and Mary (Novak) Barker. Gladys had a strong devotion to the United Methodist faith. She retired after many years of service from Huntington Bank. Survived by loving children, Constance “Connie” Hammond, William “Bill” (Nadine) and Timothy “Tim” (Christi) Hammond; grandchildren, Amy (Ben) Hannah, Kara Hammond, Kristen (Josh) Patton, Courtney (Nick) Morton, Kyndall (Nick) Freeh and Lauren Hammond; great-grandchildren, Sammi, Grace, Kaylee, Charlie and Abigail; brother, Benjamin “Ben” Barker; along with many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, where a funeral service will be held at 11am, Friday, August 9, 2013. Interment to follow at Maplewood Cemetery in New Albany, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations for disaster relief may be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief or the American Red Cross.
