Goldie Marie Upton born in Columbus, Ohio on October 27, 1930 left this life February 13, 2017. Mother of six children, she retired from Franklin County Department of Family and Job Services in 1995. A member of Good Samaritan Baptist Church and a Godly woman; Goldie always kept God's words in her heart. Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, Allen T. and Goldie (Alexander) Smith; sisters, Annie Ruth Shelton, Jessie Shelton, Mary Harris and brother, Allen T. Smith, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory, sister, Vada Greer; daughters, Brenda M. Dafney and Emily D. Lewis; sons, John L. Upton, Charles R. Upton, Jr., Richard A. Upton, Thomas Eldridge and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends 5-6 pm Friday, February 17, 2017 at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where the funeral service will begin at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
