

Harold O. Nichols, age 77, a long time resident of Gahanna, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital after a prolonged illness. He was a 50 year member IBEW Local 683, having retired in 1996. He did contract work for Lazarus Department Stores for 36 years. Harold was the man who put the Christmas lights up on the Lazarus Water Tower! Harold loved fishing, OSU football and basketball and playing cards with his fellow retirees. He is a Veteran of the US Navy serving during the Cold War. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, just having celebrated their 56th anniversary with his wife Virginia “Jenny” Nichols; sons Harold (Kimberlee)Nichols Jr. and Paul Nichols, daughters Donna Boling and Sondra (Curt) Cooke; grandchildren: Ashley, Paul D. Joey, Samra, Corbin and Josh; brother Ray (Anita) Nichols and sisters Virginia Ann (Alton) Bailey and Barbara Combs, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-7pm Thursday at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel 1051 East Johnstown Road (at Beecher Rd)Gahanna, where a Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors will be held at 7pm Thursday.
