

Harry C. McCann, age 94, of Canal Winchester, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011. Harry was born in Salem Center, Ohio, son of the late Ernest and Goldie McCann. Also preceded in death by his grandson, Kevin McCann, siblings, Dayton, Dale, Ina, Lucille, Evelyn, and Mildred, and Uncle Cleve. Harry met his wife Rurietta at a young age. They eventually married and went on to share in 68 years of wonderful marriage. During that same time, Harry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served in the 8th Air Force as a B-24 pilot in the 467th bomb group. He flew 28 missions in Europe. After the war ended Harry brought his crew and plane back to the United States. He retired from the Air Force as a Major in 1976. Harry then worked for Landmark for 35 years. He is a Past Master of the Ralph R. Rickly Masonic Lodge #670 F & A.M. Harry was a very determined and fearless man. He also possessed an outgoing personality which made it very easy for him to make friends wherever he went. Harry enjoyed bowling and the outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, or just sitting on his swing admiring his garden. He will be missed by his loving wife, Rurietta; children, Bob (Brenda), Craig (Beth), and Tom (Sue) McCann, Karen (Pat) Cryan, and Cheryl (Bill) Brobst; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until time of service.
