Helen Gibson Shaeffer

Helen Gibson Shaeffer, age 79, died December 11, 2013. She was born May 20, 1934 in Buffalo, New York to Calder and Geraldine Gibson. She was a graduate of Kenmore High School and Wittenberg University. Preceded in death by her husband, Beryl E. Shaeffer, and her brother, Calder A. Gibson II. Helen is survived by her brother Ed Gibson, children Scott Shaeffer (Beth), Sharon Thomas (Chris) and Carolyn Gifford (Steve). The joys of her life were her grandchildren: Leah, Cory, Jack, Erin Rose, Sarah, Katelyn, Ali and Emerson. Helen taught elementary school in Columbus and later worked at her husband’s law firm for many years until his passing. She was an active member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church since 1960 where she was involved in many activities including the Home Communion Ministry and Funeral Visitation Planning. Helen was also a member of TWIG. The family will receive friends on Sunday Dec 15 from 4-6pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road and on Monday, Dec 16 from 12-1pm at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church 2300 Lytham Road.
