

Henry B. Lence, of Circleville, formerly of Columbus, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Brown Memorial Home, Circleville. He was born August 18, 1923 in Cobden, Illinois, the son of Frank and Olivia (Basler) Lence. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Georgine (Riedel) Lence; brothers, Dennis, Joe and Russell Lence; and sisters, Frances Treece, Mary Ann Mustuk and Dorothy Fisher. Henry
retired from the Air Force after 23 years service. He entered the military in 1944 and worked as a radio operator and boom operator on B-17 and B-29 aircraft. After serving in the military he went to work for Sugar Food Corp. and retired from there at age 70. Henry enjoyed bowling at Western Lanes and tending his vegetable garden. His greatest pleasure in life was his family and he especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Henry is survived by his daughters, Susan (Charles) Patrick of Circleville, Valerie Lence of Columbus, Katherine (Dennis) Moore of Grove City and Patricia Gamble of Columbus; grandchildren, Rachel (David) Daniels, Benjamin and Emily Patrick, Andrew (Erin) Moore, Angela, Jason and Jaycob Moore; great-grandchildren, John and Sarah Polinski, Abigail and Hannah Daniels, Tiger Patrick, Hailley and Allyson Moore; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to especially thank Harold, Stuart, Jane and Donna from the Pickaway County Senior Center for transporting Henry to Dialysis.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery with military service provided by AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
