Hong Chin

Hong Ping Chin, 88, of Columbus, passed away on August 21, 2020. He was born in Canton, China on March 10, 1932 to the late Wing and Shee (Dong) Chin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Chun Chu Chin; and his grandson, Shawn Rhoads.

Hong migrated to the United States to join his father who ran a successfull Chinese Restaurant in Mansfield OH. He started out as a cook and eventually ran the restaurant. He worked there close to 40 years before retiring. Hong had a passion for cooking, eating out at restaurants and shopping.

Hong will be greatly missed by his children, Faye (Calvin) Tipton, Wilgee (Amanda) Chin, and Wilman Chin; grandchildren, Kaiulani Rhoads-Holmes and Brandon Chin; great-grandchildren, Tevin Rhoads, Malasia Rhoads, Dominik Rhoads, Nikki Holmes, Garett Holmes, and Evan Holmes.

A private funeral service will be held at the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Hong's name may be made to the Columbus Chinese Christian Church.
