

Hugh J. "Red" McMillan Sr., age 88, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2020 at Kobacker House with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Anna McMillan; grandson Aiden Kulp and granddaughter Megan Woehrle; sisters: Annabelle, Jeanie, Mary and Helen; brothers: Mitchell, John and Donald; son-in-law Tony Acosta. Hugh is survived by the love of his life for 30 years, Sharon; children: Dianne McMillan, Lynn Acosta, Tim McMillan, Greg McMillan, Hugh J. McMillan Jr., Elizabeth (Chuck) McMillan Kulp, step-daughters Tracie (Michael) Kostelac, Beth (Brian) Strawser; grandchildren: Andrew Acosta, Matthew Strawser, Zach Strawser, Anthony Kostelac, Joe Kostelac, Sydnie Kostelac, Andrew Kostelac, Jessica Kostelac, Brandy McMillan, Kyle McMillan, Jordan Keaton, Chuck A Kulp, Morgan Kulp, Alexis Kulp, Steven Kulp, Camden Kulp, Ian Kulp, Ashley Woehrle and Cory Woehrle; great grandchildren: Hayden Kostelac, Harrison Schneider, Gavin McMillan, Allena McMillan, Rosealee McMillan, Evelyn McMillan Briland Pierce and Katlyn Woehrle; brother: Robert McMillan, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Hugh served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a bus driver for Southwestern City Schools after many years of dedicated service, ensuring children were safely transported to and from school. Prior to driving for Southwestern City Schools, he was a cook at many central Ohio restaurants. He was an avid fisherman, catching fish so large that he didn't have to tell tales of how big they were, as he had visual proof. He enjoyed traveling to see his family in Texas and Arizona, and to gamble in Las Vegas. Hugh also loved to play the slots and bet on horses locally at Scioto Downs. He had a passion to garden, growing tomatoes that were bigger than your hand, and sunflowers 20 feet tall. Most of all he loved his family, spending time with grandkids, and cooking for family and friends. Visitation for Hugh is on Saturday March 14, 2020 at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway from 10 am - 12:30 pm, followed by funeral service beginning at 12:30 pm with Pastor Mike Lape and Hugh's grandson Pastor Matt Strawser officiating. Interment afterward at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Dr. Columbus, OH 43214.
