Ira “Bill” Simons died on August 26, 2011 in Columbus, OH. He was born February 18, 1925 in Springfield, OH to Thelma Frances Evans and Ira Daniel Simons. He is preceded in death by his wife, Andrea Olin Simons. He is survived by his brother, Richard(Louise) Simons, daughter Marna (Jeffrey) Austin, daughter Elise Simons, son Justin (Amy Bennett) Simons, and grandson Jonah Simons. He enjoyed a successful career as an industrial designer. He was familiar to Columbus theater audiences as an actor and set designer. A favorite role of his was that of “Grandpa” in the play “You Can’t Take It WithYou”. He was active in Palatines to America, a German genealogical society. He also enjoyed his daily crossword puzzles and watching Andy Rooney and Jeopardy. A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on September 25th at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Columbus.
