

Jack E. Thompson, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, age 78, of Thornville, Ohio passed away August 7, 2012 after a tough battle with lung cancer. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Betty Jean (Mullen) Thompson, sisters, Dorothy and Lilly and brothers, Jimmy and Dean. He is survived by children, Bev Purdy (Mark Bryan), Jack (Cynthia) Thompson, David (Sherri) Thompson, Tommy (Cyndee) Thompson and Rena Kerekes (Steve Schull); 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jesse, Donny and Louie “Lumpy”; brother-in-law, David (Jenny) Mullen; many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jack had a strong work ethic. He worked tirelessly as a truck driver, welder, diesel mechanic and construction worker. He was a member of AmVets #0051 in Thornville and the Eagles #2801 in Buckeye Lake. He loved to dance! He will be forever remembered for his huge heart and above all, his love for his family. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8pm Sunday, August 12, 2012 and 12-1pm Monday, August 13, 2012 at Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 where services will be held at 1pm Monday; interment Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in memory of Jack and Betty Thompson.
