Lit a candle in memory of James L. Barton

so a year ago I am out to dinner with my best friend.  The phone rings.  Her word crumbles.   She still misses the love of her life.   Rest in Peace Jim.

Friendly..can't believe its been a year already... I could always expect to laugh or smile from ear to ear ...I do miss that...May you rest in peace....

He man- I just wanted to tell you I miss you. All them jokes- I mean when anyone was having a bad day, you always made it better.

Jim,  I still can't be on time.   Happy Belated Birthday my friend.  You are so missed by Joan.   You are the love of her life.

Jimmy, Jeff and I still talk about you like it was just yesterday. We miss your phone calls and fun loving conversations. I still have you on my answering machine farting Christmas carolls to us.With your mouth of course... Wow good thing or there would be do-do in someones drawers. We love and miss you very much just thinking your name makes us smile,with a little pain in our hearts. Love you Jarvis :)

Thirty years ago i had the great honor of meeting Jim. Troy and I was out running around being crazy teenagers as always,and we went back to his house to hang out. I think we sneaked into Jims nightstand and found a little something to smoke. We were sitting there and Troy heard his dads truck pull up.. We were like OH SHIT lol.... But Jim was in a great mood when he walked in. I heard a few of Jims great stories and met Jarvis and one of the funniest men i have ever met. I am very grateful that i stayed friends with jim over the years and all my children got to meet Jim and hear a couple of his stories themselves. You was a great man Jim Barton and you will be greatly missed but never forgotten my friend...

oh my dear daddy!!! i miss you so so much already.my budddy my best friend! so many memories i dont even know where to start.you taught me so much and i owe it all to you!! Our DAD was a great man!!!  He never met a stranger and ALWAYS would make you laugh when your were sad. The very first time I met him he told me to turn around and said let me check that ass out baby.  I thought I would fall to the floor.  The day he got his Bulldozer he was so excited.  He called to say IT'S COMING IT'S COMING down the road.  We went everyweekend to do what ever he needed.  We would laugh and say what is on his list of what he wants done.  Every time we would leave he would always be at the door to wave cause he always hated to see us leave.  One time when he was there to wave he had loose pants on and as we went to wave buy he was waving in his underware as his pants were at his ankles.  We laughed so hard we couldn't even drive for a minute.  We could go on and on with stories of this wonderful man.  Dad we love you so much and will miss you terribly.  You were alway's my inspiration and no matter what I did you always said I could do it.  You always told me I was the daughter you never had, well this daughter will miss her Daddy so so much.  I Love Ya My Best Friend, My POPS!!!!

We  met in the 1st grade  and spent so many good times together ....we caught crawdads in Cedar Run Creek, we played king of the mountain, we went sledding and loved when we could make money shoveling the snow, we went fishing....We did it all. 

We did so much together as kids, then as we grew into adulthood , each having families, we always stayed in contact with each other.  We shared so much over the span of 60 years.  

For James, Troy, and family you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am left with many happy memories.  I remember the last time I saw you you said " I'VE LIVED  A GOOD LIFE ".  
 
So Rest in Peace, Jimmy.  You will continue to live in my heart.

Meeting and talking with Jimmy would be as if you’d known each other your whole life and as time went by without contact the next encounter was as if you had not missed a day.

I remember the first day I met James Barton was at his home in Malta and he walked up to me and said "Do you want you'r panties back from last night" LOL, he was such a funny man and he was called to heaven because they had a job for him just like my Dad was. You will be forever missed James and never forgotten.

Love and prayers to family and friends  Jim, our brother, our friend.
We spoke quite often and this past summer he visited Duncan Falls to visit the resting places of our grandparents. He was with someone and relayed to me how he held back the emotions that he felt....As we talked about his feelings and our great grandparents in Philo whom we planned to visit this spring, the emotions surfaced, no holding back. I think he realized his own mortality and how precious life is & squabbles were petty because in life, we have each other and needed to set all that b.s ,as he called it aside. Jim woud make you laugh at a drop of a dime...often to tears, yet he had his serious and the sensitive sides that I saw. 
Jimmy pushed me on my roller skates(we had a key back then), shared his boys bicycle with me, toasted weenies and marshmallows on sticks by the river, stood up for me when wronged. And he even got his ownswitch from the backyard that grandma Nellie (Barkhurst-Crow) Barton would ask him to get for being a bad boy. lol....he'd always get the smallest one he said and we loved grandma dearly too.
He had gotten interested in family ancestry this past year and even met for the 1st time someone from mom's side of the family, close to where he lived, for mom and dad's families circle the muskingum and perry county areas and more. 
We spoke of family, recipes, old friends, and personal issues, regrets, accomplishments and looked forward to more time ahead that we'd hope we'd have. Yes Jimmy, I will drink a beer, just for you!
God has called another one of my family members to rest by his side, yet I know in my heart we will all be reborn. My tears follow you brother where one day i shall join you. Rest in peace my dear Jim, you leave many a sorrowed heart.

my uncle jimmy was always a great big joker lol. that is my favorite memorie that i have of him i mean everytime i seen him he was always joking around, i couldnt tell if he was serious sometimes though and i think he kinda scared me a lil bit too. besides all of that i will always remember him as the funny caring man that he was. im gonna miss him, i love all of you very much

My heartfelt condolences to the Family, Jim was a great and I had a lot of good times with him and his brothers. I remember when I was stationed in NC. and we were heading to Ohio for the weekend and our car broke down in PA., Jim drove down and picked us up, so we can go home for the weeekend.  treasure the memories!

Uncle Jimmy had a wonderful way of making you smile, even on the worst day!  Jim was fun loving and always full of energy.  There are many memories that I have and I will treasure.  Thank you Uncle Jimmy for being such a wonderful person to call Uncle.  All the pain is over now and you can rest in peace.  Keep a watchful eye over our family, and know you will remain a bright light in the hearts of all of us!  Love you Uncle Jim!
