James was born on September 11, 1945 in Oak Hill, Ohio to William Abner Clarkson and Mary Humphries Martin. He married his wife of 39 years on July 21, 1978. Together, they raised 6 children. He was a self-proclaimed "Mr.-Fix-It" and loved to work with his hands. You would hardly ever catch him sitting down. He was happiest when he was on the go. He retired from Celanese Piping Systems where he worked for 19 years and Borden where he worked for 18 years. He attended Green Valley Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Ohio where he sang in the choir and the Christmas Cantata. He enjoyed country western music and dancing. Above all, he was a hard-working man dedicated to caring for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife; Karen Clarkson; his children, Tracy Clarkson, Casey (Amie) Clarkson, Jamie (Sylvia) Clarkson, and Jill (Matthew) Wood, Jimmy Clarkson, Steven Clarkson and stepsons George O'Bryan and Tony O'Bryan; his grandchildren Joshua Wood, Jacob Holt, Emily Wood, Caiden Clarkson, Amelia Wood, Wesley Clarkson, and Layla Clarkson; his sisters Pat Kookenboo, Jeanie Brooks, Donna Black, Bonnie Oliver, and Irene McMullins.
