James Edward Crawford

James Edward Crawford, age 79, commenced his heavenly journey surrounded by his beloved wife and daughter on June 15, 2015. He has been longing to see Jesus and his mother, father, and brother who had preceded him in passing. Jim was born on August 12, 1935 in Glouster, Ohio to the late Katherine (Crawford) Colbert and Miles Kelly Crawford. He was a loving, devoted husband to Mona Sue Crawford for 53 years and a devoted father to Vicky (Brent) Cahill. Jim is survived by his sister, Kathy (Rick) Hook; brother in-laws, Robert (Joyce) Potts, and Terry (Judy) Potts; numerous nephews and nieces; and beloved cat, Thomas. Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Joseph Crawford. Jim graduated from Glouster High School in the class of 1953. He graduated from The Columbus Police Academy in November 1963. He was a Columbus Police officer for 25 years which was a profession that he took with great pride to serve the public. Also, he was a military veteran of the Army and Air Force. He was a long time parishioner of Immaculate Conception and Saint James the Less. His family will receive friends on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio with FOP service at 7:00PM and a prayer service at 7:30PM. A mass celebrating his life will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10:00AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 414 E. North Broadway, Columbus, Ohio 43214. Father Matthew Hoover, Celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow at Blendon Central Cemetery, Westerville, Ohio. A special thanks to the numerous dedicated doctors that he was blessed to be in the care of. Also, a heartfelt thank you to the nurses of Mt. Carmel Hospice which lovingly devoted many hours to his care over the past few days. Contributions in Jim's memory may be made to the Mt.
