

Jym was born on May 2, 1934 in Jackson, MI to the late Loyal and Lillian (McLaughlin) Moore. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Klockow) Moore; children, Cheryl L. Moore and David J. (Marla) Moore; grandchildren, Allie, Jake, Zach, Logan and Kendall Moore; brother-in-law, Bill Klockow; niece Katie Klockow; nephew, Bill (Tina) Bucec.
Jym reecieved his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Michigan and his Ph. D from The Ohio State University. He was a faculty member at Ohio State and the percussion instructor for the O.S.U. Marching Band from 1981 to 2004. Jym was a member of the Indianapolis Symphony, Columbus Symphony, Port Charlotte Symphony, Naples Concert Band, Brass Band of Columbus and sang at the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs (FL). Jym spent three years in the U.S. Army where he taught at the Armed Forces School of Music in Washington, DC. He started his own publishing company, Per Mus Publications, in 1979 and also began Percussive Notes magazine which is now a part of the Percussive Arts Society.
Friends may call Friday, June 20, 2014 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL 1740 Zollinger Rd. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 10 am. Rev. Dr. David Cady, officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Ferris Center Cemetery, Riverdale, MI.
