

James R. Poole, 86, of Columbus, passed away July 9, 2010. He was born September 2, 1923 in Bellefontaine to the late Russell and Gladys Poole. Jim is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Janet E. Poole; daughter, Lori Jane and sister, Betty Gratz. Jim is survived by his children, Cathy (Doug) Fry, Jeff (Cathy) Poole, John Poole; grandchildren, Melissa, Emily, Jennifer, Michael, Brandon; great-grandchildren, Gage, Colton, Garrett, Jared, Madisen, Chase, Jenna, Jackson, Brody, Mason, Makayla, Marshall; extended family, Robert and Rachel McWilliams and beloved dog, Bailey Wiggles McPoole and loving cat, Belle. Jim was a member of Northwest Bible Church where he was very active singing in the choir. He was a veteran of the US Navy proudly serving his country during WWII. Jim retired from Battelle but continued to keep busy as a friendly face at the Kingsdale Giant Eagle. He was a past Exalted Ruler with the Bellefontaine Elks, and past Commander with the American Legion. Jim and his wife, Janet ran the Youth Center in Bellefontaine for many years. While in Bellefontaine Jim took part in Satan’s Angels Senior Drum and Bugle Corps for over 22 years. Jim enjoyed being part of the Vaud-Villities for the past 18 years. He was a huge OSU Buckeye fan along with rooting for Jimmy Johnson on Sunday afternoons. Jim enjoyed living his life to the fullest but his main love was his family. Jim was a kind-hearted, gentle man that showed his family and those around him unconditional love- his favorite words were “I Love You Guys”. Visitation will be held 11:00AM until 1:00PM Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Northwest Bible Church 6639 Scioto Darby Rd., Hilliard, Ohio 43026 where funeral services will begin at 1:00PM. Pastor Ken Harrell will be officiating with entombment at Union Cemetery.
