Jane, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. She was a proud graduate of Smithville High School, Wittenberg University (where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics), and Capital University (where she completed her MBA). Jane began her distinguished career in 1967 at Ohio Bell and retired in 1998 as a skilled engineer specializing in central office equipment.
Jane leaves behind her devoted husband of 55 years, Kenneth C. McKinley; their children, Kenneth R. (Rick) McKinley (Ellen) and William D. (Bill) McKinley (Tricia Leach, fiancée); granddaughter Victoria McKinley; as well as her siblings, Margaret Hostetler, Mary Linn (Richard) Wills, and Daniel (Kim) Hostetler. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
An active and passionate community volunteer, Jane was deeply involved with several service organizations. She proudly served as Governor for the State of Ohio for Quota International. As a gifted musician, Jane passionately supported the arts and was an integral part of the Columbus Symphony, first as the President of the Woman's Association and later as the President of the Friends of the Columbus Symphony.
Jane’s love for cooking and baking was legendary. With an extensive collection of cookbooks, she enjoyed experimenting with new recipes and was frequently called upon to contribute her delicious cookies and pastries to the many organizations she supported.
Jane had a strong faith in the Lord. She volunteered to support numerous church activities, including serving on the church council, singing in the Chancel Choir, and playing with the Soli Deo handbells. She was also involved in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Stephen Ministry, and Thrivent community service programs.
Her kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of service, love, and dedication to family will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to call her a friend and loved one.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses at Taylor Springs, Hospice Care, and the doctors and staff at Mount Carmel East for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Jane.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on February 22 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2314 East Main Street, Bexley, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane's memory to the Christ Lutheran Church organ fund or The Columbus Symphony.
