Janet Elaine Hopper, 78, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014. She was born April 9, 1935 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio to the late Paul and Johannah Snyder. She was a long time employee of J.C. Penney Co. Janet loved to spend time gardening. Digging in the dirt was her passion. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sons, Daryl and John Kevin Downey. Janet is survived by husband of 42 years, Roy; son, Gregg (Melissa) Downey; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and very special family friends, Chuck Sowards and Nancy Lennex. Visitation will be 2-4 pm Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St. Columbus, Ohio where funeral service will follow at 4 pm.
