Janice Marie McCarthy

Janice "Jan" Marie McCarthy, age 59, peacefully passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Jan was born in Dayton, OH on February 7, 1955. She was a graduate of Bliss College and worked for the insurance industry for many years before retiring from Unum. Jan's first thoughts were for others. She lovingly cared for her husband, Tim, through periods of better and poorer health. She loved spending time with her many friends and family - especially all of her nieces and nephews and was everyone's favorite aunt and big sister. She had a great love for OSU football and basketball as well as spending time in nature, arts & crafts fairs and farmers' markets.

Jan was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Timothy McCarthy, and father, Wilmer Ladd. She is survived by her mother: Susan Ladd, brothers: Dave (Robin) Ladd and Steve (Rose) Ladd, sister: Nancy (Randy) Luikart, nieces and nephews: Ryan Ladd, Courtney (Brandon) Brock, Michael and Ashley McCarthy, Heidi (Jason) Love, Sarah (Dustin) Fitch, Christopher and Nicholas Luikart; and her beloved Felines, Dakota and China.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Jan will begin at 12 noon on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., Worthington, OH 43085, where the family will receive friends from 10 am until the time of service. Rev. Robert C. Tussing officiating. Inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery.
