

A Funeral Mass for, Jarod Richard “Roddy” Fox, age 16, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 30, 2013 with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Jarod was born in Newark, Ohio on November 26, 1997 to the late Richard Fox and Elizabeth M. (Short) Fox of Newark. He passed away at Nationwide Children’s Hospital on December 24, 2013 with his family at his side.
Jarod was a 9th grade student at Licking Valley High School, where he touched the lives of many students and teachers. He had also attended ES Weiant, Madison and Licking Valley Elementary and Middle School. He loved dancing, listening to music and singing, especially “Happy Birthday.” He loved the outdoors, especially chasing the geese around his pond at home. He also enjoyed calling and talking to people on the telephone, taking and sharing photos and loved wrestling, playing basketball, and he could “run like the wind. “ Jarod never met a stranger and loved everyone he met. Visits always ended with a hug and three pats on the back.
In addition to his mother, whom was the love of his life, survivors include his step-father, Bud Myers; aunts and uncles, Tom Short of Miami, FL, Dan (Tonia) Short, Bill (Cindy) Short, Robert “Hoss” (Leanne) Fox and Larry Fox, all of Newark; cousins, Mike Short, James (Sondra) Short, Brian Short, Eric Richeson, Michelle Short, Matt Short, Brooklyn Short, Blake Short, Billy Short, Valerie Fox, Jeanette (Robert) Redman, Chris Fox, Jordan “Ted” Fox and Tiffani Bice; and his special protector, his puppy Ciera.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Don and Joan Fox; maternal grandparents, Bill and Lorraine Short; and Uncle, Joseph Short.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jarod to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, 700 Children’s Dr., Columbus, OH 43205 or to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 2545 Farmers Dr, Columbus, OH 43235.
