Jay L. Dawson Sr.

Jay L. Dawson, Sr., age 83, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Pickerington Methodist Hospital. He was born on December 14, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Virginia (Dow) and John Dawson.

Jay proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Following his service, he became a successful businessman, owning and operating four retail stores in the Columbus area. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, enjoyed golfing, and remained active through regular exercise with the YMCA Silver Sneakers program.

Jay is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Jeanne (Pascale) Dawson; his children, John (Amber) Dawson, Jena Dawson, Jay (Kelly) Dawson, Jr.; and his cherished grandchildren, Taylor, Lucas, and Ella Marie Dawson. He is also survived by his brother, Jim (Yvonne) Dawson; his sister, Dale (Eduardo) Carcache; and his nephews, Adam, Matthew, Jason, and Michael.

Family and friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where a funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Jay’s memory.
