Jean Spangler, 82, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born October 23, 1928 to the late, William and Mary Sawyer. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl; daughter, Garnet Spangler and 6 siblings. Jean is survived by daughter, Jennifer (Donald) Fairchild; son, Jason Spangler; granddaughter and namesake, Kaitlyn Jean Fairchild; sisters, Nell Hicks and Joyce Falgham, along with numerous other extended family and friends. Jean was a devoted and dedicated mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed her granddaughter, Kaitlyn Jean who was named after her. Jean spent over 40 years as an Elementary School Teacher in several Columbus Schools. She retired as the Latchkey School teacher for Salem Elementary School. Family will receive friends Monday from 3-7 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, where a funeral service will be held, 1 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kaitlyn Jean Fairchild College Fund
