She was a 1969 graduate of Messmer High School and a 1974 graduate of The Ohio State University.
Joanne was an elementary teacher in Gahanna Public Schools and then went on to be a mathematics textbook editor at Charles Merrill Publishing. Eventually she went back to her first love of teaching as a middle school teacher with Columbus Public Schools. After her retirement in 2006 she became a Pharmacy Technician.
Joanne met her husband John while performing in a Gahanna Community Theatre production. They fell in love and married in 1989. Joanne was a beautiful singer and enjoyed being a member of the Peace Lutheran Church Choir as well as her involvement in many, many Gahanna Community Theatre productions. Joanne loved her students while teaching and most of all loved her family. Christmas with Chris and Tara and the boys was her passion; her search for just the right Christmas gifts was a months long project.
Many thanks to John's brothers and sisters for their wonderful support while Joanne, John and Virginia were in the hospital, the support of friends and neighbors and the loving care of the doctors and staff at St Ann's Hospital, as well as the continued support after John and Virginia were released.
Due to Covid-19 a celebration of Joanne's life will be sometime when friends and family are able to gather again.
