Joe Louis Elmore Sr.

Joe Louis Elmore Sr., age 87, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at his home. He was born in Newark, Ohio, to Alphonso and Giyneeters (Lipscomb) Elmore. He met and married his beloved Jean Duncan (Frost) while serving in the U.S. Air Force in England and together they came to the United States in February of 1963. Joe retired from the USAF after living in Plattsburgh, NY, Vietnam, Huntingdon and Ipswich UK and Dayton, OH. Upon his retirement they moved to Columbus, Ohio. His beloved Jean preceded Joe in death in 2022. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved children, Laurel (Paul Green), of New Albany, Joe Jr (Jayne Hawkins) of Banbury, UK, and Carson (Melissa Christie) of Gahanna; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Joe is also survived by daughters-in-law, Becky Elmore, of Groveport, Lori Elmore of Whitehall and Janet Elmore of Oklahoma City; dear friends, Burla and Joe Middleton of Obetz, and Carolyn and Johnny Stephenson of Texas, and many nieces and nephews around the world. Besides his parents and wife Jean, Joe was preceded in death by his son Clinton and his seven brothers and sisters—Alphonso Jr., Fred, Mary, Frances, Inez, Evangeline, and his twin Josephine. Family will receive friends 10-11:00 am Saturday, March 23, 2024 at SCHOEDINGER EAST, 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232 followed by funeral service at 11:00 am Saturday.
