Lit a candle in memory of John "Jack" Bishop

Jack taught me how to have fun fishing and hunting and never hesitated to take the opportunity to share these great memories. Jack was an instrumental figure in my life and am saddened to see a wonderful light taken from us way before it should have burned out. My family and I extend our deepest sympathies to the Bishop clan. I love you Jack and will never forgetthe role you played in my life. I have such happy memories of playing cards with Jack and Rick at cub scout camp outs. Those two together were hilarious! Such fun, happy times. My heart goes out to you, Dorothy, Tyler, Angel and Coleman...holding you all in our prayers.

I only knew John (as I knew him) somewhat, but all through his wonderfully kind and caring daughter Angel. I remember that back when Angel and I were best friends that we'd joke about how if Angel asked to stay out late or gallavant somewhere odd that it was a hands down "no," yet she'd drop my name and that we were going together and he'd be fine with it. I remember having a great camping trip when Tyler was just a cub scout and Angel, myself, and he and Dorothy all went along and had a great time. He was certainly great fun to be around, the few times I was blessed to visit with him.
My heart goes out to Angel, Dorothy, Tyler, Coleman, and the rest of the family on their loss. John really was a great guy and raised some amazing kids!

DID NOT KNOW JACK, BUT HE HAS ONE OF THE SWEETEST SISTERS EVER IN CATHY, MAY PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL IN THIS TIME OF SORROW..

One of many of my favorites was him telling story about the "gas" leak under Rob's car while we were on a fishing trip. He got the biggest kick out of telling and showing how Rob went into a 3-point stand to get down and smell the "gas". Dorothy and I were practically rolling on the ground. We all had some good times together. I'll always cherish my memories of them.

I will always remember my uncle Jack as the person who always wanted me to have a good time with him. He always took me to Clipper games, car shows, movies, and of course my favorite, fishing trips. I learned at an early age it was ok for men to cry when we were both crying walking out of the theater after watching ET. I remember him coming to my Marine Corps graduation in San Diego in 92. To quote him, "he was as proud as a 3 peckered billie goat to see me in my dress blue uniform. Him being there that day meant alot to me. I also remember a Christmas trip to Columbus from Birmingham, me mom and dad are insinde the house at mamaw and papaw's, 2 feet of snow on the ground, and in comes uncle Jack wearing bermuda shorts, sandals, sun glasses complaining about the heat. Most recently, I rememder the Shakamak trips. The first one was rough for him, but damn it, he was there!!! I remember trying to move in the boat so he could have a better view of dad almost falling out and us laughing so hard it hurt! Trust me, you had to see it to believe it. Then there was the water buffalo sighting at the Lake Kickapoo spill way. Wasnt there long, all we saw were two feet in the air and heard alot of rustling on the ground. And there will always be the Linton Wal Mart incident. He actually thought we would be arrested for that. Through the years the distance apart grew further and furhter, but never my love for uncle Jack. I will be thankful for the rest of my life we re-connected the last couple of years. I will always love you and miss you. Give mamaw and birdie a hug for me!!!

To the best man I ever knew. Who protected me from boys and spiders. Who used to scare me with the theme song from the Twilight Zone. Who used to make me squeal by eating worms on our fishing trips. Who helped bail me out of every bad car situation I have ever been in. Who chased a cat down in a barn for me because I really had to have one, then 19 years later called me at 6am to tell me that he ran over the cat in the driveway and took the day off of work to help bury the cat in the backyard. Who I knew that no matter how mad I made you, you would forgive me an hour later. Who I could hear over everyone else in the audience cheer for me when they called my name at my high school and college graduations. Who was a fighter until the end. Who made sure to tell me several times throughout my life that he was proud of me. I will always cherish the memories that we made together. I am proud to call you my dad <3

I wish I could have seen you one more time, but time was something we did not have. But time that we spent together was priceless. The gifts you gave me I will always hold dear. I know they came from your heart. I will see you again one day. But until then, I will miss you dearly. Love you always, Debbie Bishop; Niece

I have so many. 

The hunting and fishing trips we took together in Ohio, Michigan, Alabama, Florida, Iowa and Illinois. The best Christmas present EVER in 1992. The trip to San Diego. The circus and the balloons. Walking to and from school. Christmas mornings. Delivering papers. Looking for an all night gas station so we could find an air pump for a Christmas gift for Cathy. The drive-in movies in our pajamas. The bunk beds. Hide and seek with Doug and the Conner boys. Skinny dipping in the back yard pool. Your first shotgun. Popcorn and Chiller Theater. Watching Flippo after school. Walking home from Sunday School early so we could go swimming. Trick or Treating. Ice skating at Linden Park. Hiding bad things we did from LuAnn because she would tell on us. Practical jokes on both LuAnn and Cathy. The gasoline leak on the old white Chevy while fishing with Randa and Dorothy. Acting as pack animals on the fishing trips with Randa and Dorothy to Galena. The day the trailer wheel came off of the boat when we we retuning from Hoover Dam. Hooking me in the back with a Jitter Bug lure (I still have it). Suggestions on how to remove a Jitter Bug lure from my back. Walking off of the boat in the middle of the night in alligator invested water.Trying to decide whose turn it was to sleep at Mamaws and Burdy's. Watching me almost fall out of the boat at Shackmack and not helping me because you said you were afraid to look away because you might miss the best part.  . . . and about a thousand more.

I will miss you more than anyone but only you will ever know how much.
