John William "Bill" Burris

John W. "Bill" Burris, Jr., age 77 of Gahanna, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015. Bill was born in London, Ohio, son of the late John Sr. and Rowena Burris. Also preceded in death by granddaughter, Madison Burris. John graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School, Class of 1956 and attended Otterbein University where he played football. Bill proudly served his country as a US Army Veteran. Throughout his career he worked in the transportation industry and was a proud Teamster. Bill was a caring, loving man who put his family above all else. He was a social member of the Whitehall VFW, Whitehall Knights of Columbus, and the Reynoldsburg Eagles. He enjoyed golfing, classic cars, sharing time with friends and family, and will always be remembered as a great cook with a towel hanging from his shoulder. He will be greatly missed by his loving children, Cheryl (Jeff) Holdren, John (Tammy) Burris, and Jay (Terri) Burris; beloved grandbabies, Chelsea, Miranda, Kasey, Haley, Andrea, and Allie; sisters, Nancy Gloyd and Becky (Don) DeCamp; and other extended family members and dear friends. Memorial services will be held at 6 P.M. Friday, July 10, 2015 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., where family will receive friends from 4 P.M. until time of service.
