John W. Factor

John William Factor, age 92, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 3, 2017. He was born in Newark, Ohio on June 11, 1924 to the late Harry W. and Mary E. (Cunningham) Factor. John served honorably with the U.S. Army in Guadalcanal during World War II and later retired from the Ohio Bell Telephone Co. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. His favorite retirement pastimes were gardening and cooking (and eating too!). He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Factor, his wife of 62 years, Hazel E. Factor and daughter, Deborah L. DeJong. John is survived by his sons, William A. Factor, Stephen B. (Sheri) Factor and Jeffrey S. (Cindy) Factor, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew. Friends may call from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, 43230. On Thursday, friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30am at the funeral home, and a funeral service will begin at 10:30am. Pastor Edward Engelbrecht officiating. Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Contributions in John's memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
