

John attended Rutgers University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Geology in 1957. During his time there he became the president of Alpha Sigma Phi. Following college, John served in the United States Airforce and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Most notably he was a navigator on the Tanker Aircraft KC-135 Stratotanker. He also he was employed as Computer Specialist at DSC where he retired in 1989. He served as a Liaison Officer for the Airforce Academy from 1974-2001.
A Proud member of the Airforce Assoc., Reserve Officers Assoc., National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees, American Legion Post #0797, and Kiwanis of Gahanna.
Survived by his wife of 25 years, Karen Raab; daughter Karen (Brian) Johnson; son, John (Shannon) Raab Jr; grandchildren, Benjamin (Criste), Nathan, and Aaron (Megan) Johnson, Justin, Jeffery, and Ryan Raab, Abbey (Daniel) Peralta; three great-grandchildren; brother, Tom (Patty) Raab; nieces and nephews, Annie (Lyndsay), Tommy (Amy), and Jimmy (Trisha) Raab; step- children, Kelly (Joseph) Hollenack, John Henry Gordon; step-grandchildren, David and Anna Hollenack, David, Joseph, Jessica, and Emily Gordon; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends on Friday November 9, 2018 from 4-7pm at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230; where a service will be held on Saturday November 10, 2018 at 11am. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
